Have over $100 000 in your swiss Bank account
Guide There is an campaign island that requires you to amass $75 000 into your Swiss Bank account before the end of your mandate, so you should combine this achievement with that island.
Right from the start of a game, quickly activate the Building Permit edict, which will automatically insert 10% of any building's cost into your Swiss Bank account. Once you have a thriving economy, build several banks with the Slush Fund option. The more banks you have, the more money you will get into your Slush Fund. Just make sure you don't fall into debt, as the banks will be useless then.
You could also make Ancient Ruins into Excavation Site, as this will generate profit to your Swiss Bank. The Childhood Museum can also be set to the Retirement Fund for extra profit.

Finish a game with overall Happiness of your citizens above 70%
Guide Quite the annoying achievement, as the citizens are a bunch of spoiled brats! You must try to please your citizens by improving several aspects of their daily lives. You can check your Almanac (Right Trigger + Y) in the People tab how happy your citizens are. Clicking on Average Happiness provides in depth details, covering which aspects are raising or lowering the average happiness. A few hints on how to raise the average happiness
Food Quality First of all you must be able to provide a lot of food, so that noone is starving. You will need plenty of Ranches, Farms and Fishermen's Wharves. Once you are confident you can provide enough food, boost your Food Quality by activating the Food for the People edict.
Housing Quality You will need a ton of Condominiums and Mansions for this one. Houses are fine, a few Apartment Blocks are acceptable, but steer clear of anything else! Make sure all of your citizens are living in top class houses, even if this means lowering the rent all the way to 0. Shacks kills this aspect significantly, so make sure you don't have any!
Religion Quality Build as many Cathedrals as you can, and add some Churches into the mix. You can boost this quality by activating the Papal Visit edict
Entertainment Movie Theatres, Gourmet Restaurants, Night Clubs, Casinos all improves this quality. Cabarets will also provide some quality entertainment. You can also activate The Headliner. If you can handle the increased crime, go for Mardi Gras as well. If you decide to go for the Sports Complex, which shouldn't be at all neccesary, you can also activate the Pan-Caribbean Games edict, but in my opinion the Sports Complex is just a waste of good money. Try to have as many Upscale Dress Code buildings as possible, but be sure to have some No Dress Code buildings so the lower class citizens may visit them. Also your restaurants should have Linen Table Cloths!
Health Care Quality Not at all hard to increase, just build lots of Hospitals.
Crime Safety Use your overlay (Right Trigger + X), Choose Crime under the People tab, and place Police Stations wherever Crime is present.
Environment In my opinion the hardest quality to improve. You will need polluting industry and Power Plants to be able to get enough money and electricity to support your work towards 70% happiness, which in turn reduces the environment. Having the Green Thumb quality on your avatar will help improving this quality, and building a Botanical Garden. You should also activate the Pollution Standard edict, and improve the Beauty of the island by placing decorations (check your Overlay, Right Trigger + X, Island Conditions, Beauty where to improve). The Anti-Litter Ordnance will also reduce pollution, but at the same time it will decrease Liberty, so you will need Newspapers/Radio/TV Stations present to counter this effect.
Liberty As you most likely will have Police Stations and Military buildings all over the place, you should have the Sensitivity Training edict activated to reduce their negative impact on Liberty. In the areas where you have a lot of citizens, you should build TV Stations and Radio Stations, and use the BBC and the Radio Free Tropico channels wisely, as this will give you a huge Liberty boost. Keep an eye on your Overlay (Right Trigger + X, People, Liberty) to see if there are any areas that are in need of a Station.
Job Quality This quality has strong ties with the wages you are paying. The higher wages you pay, the higher the job quality. You can also change the Work Method in your Teamster's/Construction Offices, industries, etc from Sweat Shop to Easy-Does-It will improve Job Quality. The factories also has Job Quality boosting options, such as the Skylights. Temporary boosts can be given by having your Avatar visit various buildings.
Respect Improving Respect is quite easy, actually. Doing good with the other qualities will help increasing this quality automatically. Edicts that affects this in a positive way is Social Security, Tax Cut (for 3 years), Geographic TV Special (for 3 years), Papal Visit (for 3 years). You can also set your Movie Theatres, TV Stations, Radio Stations to spread respect increasing material. Giving speeches from your Palace will also temporarily increase the bypassers' respect.
General hints * Always keep a close eye with your Almanac in order to know what to work on next. Try to get the easier qualities up to at least 70 before working on the harder ones, but make sure Food, Housing and Health Care are as high as possible at all times. * If you are closing in on the end of your mandate and you are falling a little behind on your respect, you should do whatever you can to boost your citizen's happiness. Turning the wages for all the workers (uneducated, high school graduates, and college graduates) to the max allowed wage (25 if you're a cheapskate - not recommended!) will improve Job Quality significantly. Activating Tax Cut, Social Security, Bribe Faction Leaders, Geographic TV Special, Papal Visit will greatly boost Respect. Good luck with this achievement!

Survive 10 Hurricanes and Earthquakes
Guide This achievement is not an accumulative one! This can be done The Cursed Island during campaign. You should be able to encounter 10 disasters during normal playthrough, but to be sure, you can use a save/load trick, as the weather condition is random. You should play this level normally so that you can get a steady income flow and make your citizens happy, while you're waiting for the disasters. I started off with building a few buildings (tobacco farms, cigar factory, church, and so on), and once I had them laid down, I saved and fast forwarded until a disaster struck the island. If no disaster hit the island, I reloaded and fast forwarded again, until either an earthquake or a hurricane made it's appearance. Then I expanded some more, and saved again, and fastforwarded. I repeated this process until the achievement unlocked.
Note There are two guaranteed earthquakes; one if you decide to expel a voodoo lady when prompted to deal with her, and one if you allow a cultist movement to settle on the island.

Iron Fist |
30G |
|
Suppress an uprising
Guide Quite the annoying achievement, as "forcing" your citizens to an uprise is harder than expected. Obviously, playing a Sandbox game is the easier way to achieve this. What I did, was start a Sandbox game with the following settings: Map: A Hard one (not sure if it matters, but when I chose an Easy one, I could never raise the Uprising Threat level - which you can see in your Almanac under the Politics tab - higher than Low)
Island Settings Political Stability: Lowest @ Very Dangerous World Economy: Highest @ 100%/80% Tourism: Neutral @ 0% Game Lenght: Highest @ 1950 - 2000 Population: Lowest @ 30 Random Events: Lowest @ None A Far Away Place: On Rebel Yell: Off Free Elections: Off Immigrants Out: On God Mode: Off
Avatar Traits Background: Booze Baron Rise to power: Installed by KGB Qualities: Athletic, Diplomatic Flaws: Paranoid, Cheapskate
Tactics The key to force an uprising is to have only a few, unhappy citizens on your island. When you start off, fire everyone from their jobs, except from the constructors. Once you have fired the workers, click on the X button in the first empty worker's spot in all buildings, to prevent people from taking the jobs. Build an Immigration Office with politics set to Tropico First (and the free Diplomatic Ministry, if you'd like to. This could come in handy if you need to build relations to the superpowers). Make sure you prevent people from getting these jobs, as well. Next construct a Ranch, and prevent people from working in it. Then start tearing everything down, except from the buildings you just built. Fire each builder and prevent people from taking these jobs.
Starvation should kill off most of your people. Once you go low to about 10, you can open up one spot in the Ranch, to let a worker make one supply of food. Now, just fast forward in time until the uprising threat windows start popping up. Continously demolish any shack that pops up, as they increase Housing Quality.
If the number of citizens drop below 5, set your immigration politics to Open Doors, and allow a worker to make one supply of food in your Ranch. Once the immigrants lands on your soil, set your politics to Tropico First
Your citizens happiness should soon be dropping below 30%, which indicates an uprising might be around the corner. If your Uprising Threat level is High, and there's no uprising occurs after some years, set your immigration politics to Open Doors again, to allow new, and hopefully treacherous people to come to the island. Once the uprising happens, save your game, and reload if you are unable to win the battle.
When I did this, it took me 12 years to get an uprising. With Uprising Threat level at High, I had 4 citizens at <20% happiness for a few years without an uprising. I opened up the borders to allow 6 new immigrants, of which 3 starved to death, before they actually made an uprising. I ended the game in 1962 with 7 citizens with 29% overall happiness.
